In a noteworthy announcement, the Princely Palace of Monaco has provided an update regarding the health of Prince Albert following a recent medical procedure. The palace confirmed that the Prince underwent a "scheduled, short medical procedure on his scalp and face to address a benign condition."
On January 16, the palace issued a statement revealing that the 67-year-old sovereign prince had this dermatological procedure as part of his routine follow-up care. The statement outlined, "The Princely Palace reports that, as part of a routine dermatological follow-up, H.S.H. Prince Albert II underwent a scheduled, short medical procedure on his scalp and face to treat a benign condition." They further noted, "The procedure required a few stitches."
Importantly, the palace reassured the public by adding, "The Sovereign Prince’s schedule of activities continues as normal," indicating that there are no expected disruptions to his royal duties.
Prince Albert has been serving as Monaco's head of state since April 2005, when he ascended to the throne following the passing of his father, Prince Rainier III. In 2025, he will commemorate the 20th anniversary of his reign, a significant milestone for the principality.
Together with his wife, Princess Charlene, the couple is proud parents to twin children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, who are currently 11 years old. Notably, Prince Jacques is the heir apparent, positioned next in line to succeed his father.
