Jalen Duren described the game as "overly competitive" and acknowledged that "emotions were flaring." He also suggested that opposing teams have been attempting to "get in our head" throughout the season, implying a pattern of aggressive tactics. However, Duren, when pressed by reporters, deferred to video replays for the exact sequence of events, choosing not to elaborate on how the fight specifically began. This occurred after a no-call following a collision involving Grant Williams and Paul Reed.
